Scripps Health has been named to Fortune magazine’s national list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” a recognition the San Diego-based system said it has earned for the 17th time and as the only employer in San Diego County included this year. Scripps said it ranked No. 97 on the latest list.
In a statement, Scripps President and CEO Chris Van Gorder positioned the ranking as an employer-brand signal tied to staffing stability. “Our people are our greatest strength, and we’re proud to continually invest highly in their development, well-being, and success,” Van Gorder said.
Scripps said its “employee turnover rates and job vacancy rates are well below health care industry norms,” and connected that workforce narrative to patient care. “We take great care of our people, and they take great care of our patients,” Van Gorder said.
Fortune’s annual list is produced in partnership with Great Place To Work and is based on employee feedback, using a survey-driven methodology. Great Place To Work said it surveyed companies employing 8.4 million people in the U.S. and received more than 1.3 million survey responses; the eligible pool for the 2025 “100 Best” included Great Place To Work Certified organizations.
